How to make large layered ruffle flowers for gift packaging

At last! The end of school term has arrived and it's the last day of primary school today - roll on 3pm and then freedom!!

I've had to post a little later today as I didn't want any of the girls gifts for their teachers to be spoilt by posting them early enough to be seen - I'm certain now that the teachers are tucked away in their classes and not checking their alerts!

So here we go - the girls have a nursery team, a pre-school team, a year 1 teacher and a year 5 teacher so we've been pretty busy creating the last few days!

First up is the gifts for the pre-school, year 1 & year 5 teachers - chocolates, scented candles & photoframes and a homemade thank you card from the girls :)

The flower was made with a mix of strawberry slush & elegant eggplant cardstock, cut with the scallop circle die & the big shot and then spritzed with water and crumpled. I did make some of these with 2 layers each but the 4 layers looks so much more extravagant ;)

The ribbons are the crochet trim and the new ruffled ribbon which has a slight stretch to it so goes further when bow-making!

The tag was made using the Oh Hello stamp set, whisper white kraft ink and the chalkboard technique as shown here.

These are the nursery teams gifts - for these I used one of the new Tag a Bag gift box which is a kraft box with an clear acetate sleeve just begging to be stamped on ;) I'd made some little fabric corsages for each of the staff and was able to fit 4 of them into this box which was perfect.

The flower was made in the same way as before, this one only had 3 layers of pink pirouette and melon mambo - the tag is in melon mambo but has been stamped in primrose petals with the Swallowtail stamps and the sentiment from the new Simply Sketched stamp set in the new catalogue (page 205 if you'd like to take a peek of the catalogue on the left hand side bar!). The ribbon is pink pirouette taffeta The shaped tag was die cut with the now sadly retired Two Tags - I won't be getting rid of this die for a long time yet!

These projects are perfect to show off over at Totally papercrafts - make your own flowers challenge today.

So, just a few more hours of peace, quiet and  tidy-ish house then the 6 week chaos commences!

Back tomorrow, probably already a little frazzled around the edges!
