DIY Picnic basket tutorial using Stampin Up High Tide

Lovely bright, colourful & cheerful project for you today :) With the spring weather in full swing now the outdoors beckons and as a family we love getting out and about for good old home made picnics - food always tastes better al fresco!

Here's a cute little DIY picnic basket project for you - or it could be a fishing tackle box too with the High Tide nautical products from Stampin Up.

It's really simple to make your own picnic/fishing basket with just 1 sheet of A4 card & 1/2 sheet of patterned paper! It would also make a great little gift especially for an outdoor enthusiast -simply fill with sweets or treats!

Take an A4 sheet of card in colour of your choice (I've used Pacific point to tie in with the High Tide papers!). Cut a piece measuring 8" x 5.5" for the base & score at 1" all the way round. Cut slits in opposite corners and then assemble into shallow box shape.

For the lid, cut a piece of coordinated card measuring 6.5" x 4" and score at 2.5" & 3.75" and fold up. Cut another piece of cart measuring 6" x 1" and score at 1" & 5" and fold the ends down.

Secure this strip to the lid piece of card and secure the ends into the base box using glue dots. then your choice of patterned papers to edge the basket and cover the lid.

Cut a strip of card measuring 7" x 1" and arch over and secure for a handle for the basket.
